My main problem with hidden objects is, as some stated already, that they are labelled as adventure games. I bought a pair of supposed adventure games that were nothing but HO games. Worse still there belonged to an interested adventure game series (Art of Murder and Chronicles of Mystery) that, idiotically, turned HO!!! Of course, I felt cheated and didn't even try to play the games! Sure, they can create all HO games that they want but please don't cheat your fans and users by labelling them as adventure or ruining good series!

Oh, I'm so glad I ran into your post.

I hate hidden object games too and hate it so much. Even my youngest sister hates it too. We both hate them. They're mindless and nonsense yet they're popping out like crazy nowadays.

I love Nancy Drew and time management games because we're involved in the progress and story. It's more interactive. But there's not many of them out there. I wish more game developers make more high quality games. Hidden object games might have great graphics but the gameplay just sucks.

So glad I could let this out!

I hate Hidden Object games too, ESPECIALLY when they're labeled "Adventure". They are not adventure games; they're cheap imitations. Really, the cut scenes may be cool, and the in between characters telling you where to go next may be really well done, but they just lead to more boring static screens where you pick up freaking stupid things.
I just started playing one that was mislabeled as an adventure game, and the developers actually did attempt to make the hidden objects sort of fit in with the theme but geez, it still sucks. It's too much like doing boring chores. If I want to be bored, I'll go fold my laundry.

I've played all the long ones (nancy drew, microids...) Hidden Object is the lazy way out for designers and publishers.

I do understand why some people may not find hidden object games stimulating enough, but for me the fun is all in the challenge.

I have been looking everywhere for a site that does games other than hidden object ones, but i cannot find one! I love mystery games, but all the ones i find are based around finding stupid objects that add nothing to the story. I agree with Tara, they are mindless, and really boring.

I wrote I hate hidden object games and you came up. Total fan of the blog. I am a gamer I love PS3 and love computer time managment games. I am hooked can't stop playing them. I can not stand Hidden Object games. They are absoloutley mindless. I like to play games that allow me to escape from the everyday bullsh*t Hidden games just make me feel stupid. I enjoy the feeling of reaching a goal and being rewarded for it. I would love to find a site totally dedicated to every game but Hidded Object.

i agree, i DESPISE hidden object games. i am so sick of them. they are the only games being made today, it seemed. what happened to inexpensive nancy drew type games? even casuals like Ozzy the turtle? Nope! Being taken over by the common hidden object craze. BLECH.
